Meet Your Maker: Alyssa O'Cotter of Sweet Alyssum Farm

There's something about dried flowers that feels like catching a season and holding onto it. The colors soften. The textures get interesting. And somehow, months later, that bundle of blooms still makes you stop and look.
That's the world Alyssa O'Cotter lives in every day at Sweet Alyssum Farm on Vashon Island, and this August, she's bringing it to Mischief & Makers Camp.

From the Field to the Wall
Alyssa has been growing and designing with flowers professionally for eight years. If you've wandered through Seattle Growers Market, Queen Anne Farmers Market, or Vashon Farmers Market, you've probably seen her work without even realizing it. Her style leans into what's actually blooming, not what a Pinterest board says should be trending. Seasonal color, unexpected pairings, and the kind of imperfections that make something look alive rather than arranged.
She runs Sweet Alyssum Farm on Vashon, where she grows the flowers herself, designs for weddings and events, and somehow still finds time to experiment with drying and preserving botanicals. That last part is what she's bringing to camp.
The Workshop: Dried Flower Wall Hangings
In this workshop, you'll work with a wide variety of dried botanical flowers and pods to build your own wall hanging from scratch. No experience needed. No "right way" to do it. Just a table full of beautiful materials and Alyssa walking you through the process.
You'll take home a finished piece you can actually hang on your wall and enjoy for years. Not a half-done project that ends up in a closet. A real, done, beautiful thing.
And here's the bonus: Alyssa will share her tips for foraging and drying your own plant materials throughout the seasons. So if you get hooked (and you might), you'll know how to keep going long after camp is over.

Why This Workshop Belongs at Camp
We built Mischief & Makers Camp around the idea that you deserve a weekend where your hands are busy and your brain gets to rest. No screens, no schedules to manage, no meal planning. Just making things, eating good food, and being outside.
Alyssa's workshop fits that perfectly. The pace is unhurried. The materials are gorgeous. And you walk away with something you made that actually looks like it belongs in your home.

Save Your Spot
Mischief & Makers Camp runs August 7 through 9 on Vashon Island. Alyssa's Dried Flower Wall Hanging workshop is one of several hands-on sessions you'll get to experience over the weekend, alongside chef-prepared meals and all the quiet your overscheduled self has been craving.
